Jo...In my opinion, the misspelling was intentional. Joseph Phillips knew full well how to spell Badilla, and he had every opportunity to correct it on Eaton's map. Additionally, at least 3 of Antonio Badilla's children were still living in the Covina area in the early 1890s, and they were almost certainly aware of the street's misspelling, as well. It would have been easy to correct the error, if it were unintentional. And yet, the street name remained 'Badillo'. So I have to conclude that Eaton and Phillips meant the name to be spelled the way it was.
